Piping & Drumming

When you hear the sound of bagpipes you immediately think "Scottish".  The skirling of pipes and the rattling of the drums on the Dartmouth Common will provide a convenient transport for our imagination to the glens of Scotland.  Close your eyes when the bands perform and the hillside you are on could well be a highland setting.

At the Halifax Highland Games and Scottish Festival you will be witness to one of the first in a summer round of pipe, drum and band trials providing opportunity for solo players and bands to display their skills.

Points earned by the competitors will go toward Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Association certified award recognition at the end of the season.  The competition for the "Champion Supreme" awards is fierce and you will be the lucky recipient of the stellar performances presented by this friendly rivalry.

Although performances of the massed bands during the day are not competitive events, the sheer power of the music will overwhelm you.
